Cannes
Croisette palms, film-festival pavement, and a beach you actually want to use. Pricier than Nice — three minutes by train if you want both. Quietest in September.
When to go
From the 2026 climate study, not the live forecast.Mid-May (during the Festival) is the worst-value week of the year; everything jumps 40%. The rest of May, plus September, are the calibration windows. Public beaches (Plage Macé, Plage du Midi) are free; the famous striped umbrellas are private at €30-€50/day. The Lérins islands are a 15-min boat from the Old Port — quieter than the mainland.
